Feedback wanted - upcoming events

Hi everyone,

I'd like some feedback as I gear up for this year's Venomtime's Day, as well as in the wake of the Venom Holiday Exchange.

Venom Holiday Exchange - what do you want in future?
My goal is to make the exchange as inclusive as practical. You can find this year's rules here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/Venom_Holiday_Exchange_2022/profile

This year for the first time, I allowed podfics, although no-one took up that option. We also allow fiction, art, and vids every year. Are there any other formats you'd like, or any changes to the rules you think are sensible?

We also allow both the movie-verse and the comics-verse/s. Are there any other 'verses you think should be included?

Finally, participants must pick either Eddie Brock and/or Venom as one of their matching criteria. This is because the exchange is comparatively small, so it enables me to match everyone (hopefully). I'm not currently open to changing this criteria, but if you have a case to put forward for changing it, I'll listen.

If you have any feedback for how to make the Venom Holiday Exchange better next year, please let me know in the comments, or via email at cupidsbower at gmail.

Venomtime's Day 2023 - should it be expanded to the Marvel-verse?
I'll be posting this year's info in a week or so, so that you have plenty of time to make your fanworks. It will be a prompt-style fest as usual. You can find last year's rules here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/Venomtimes_Day_2022/profile

Because Chocolate Box isn't running this year, I'm considering opening up the fest to allow any Marvel-verse works to be posted. If I do that, it will still be called Venomtime's Day, but I'll make sure there's a generic Marvel prompt people can use if they want to. Thoughts? If the majority is against the idea, I won't do it, but given Venom has crossed over into the larger Marvel 'verse in both comics and movies it seems like it should work.

Emperor Happiness is about to lose the galactic throne, and Symbiotes everywhere are in a rush to Bond so they can try to claim it for themselves.

Eddie Brock is the reluctant Earth reporter sent to cover the story. Along the way he finds himself embroiled in fights, politics, adventure, more scoops than he can handle, a courtship offer from a hopeful alien, and an excruciating case of being known.

The End of Happiness is 46,000 words by cupidsbow and ten glorious illustrations by ifer. It’s rated Explicit, but can be read as Mature if preferred (see the chapter notes).

Hi everyone,

As promised, I am running a mid-year Venom fest in the lead up to World Chocolate Day, July 7 2022.

This is a Harlequin challenge

That is, you must riff on a blurb from a Harlequin (or similar) romance. You can interpret the blurb you've chosen any way you like, from a straight re-write of the story with Venom characters, through to the wildest thing you can think of. As long as it has Venom and/or Eddie Brock as a main character (but they don't have to be in the romantic scenario), you're good to go.

From Saturday 21 May, you can add prompts as comments on this post, or to the V:LTBC AO3 community, to help inspire people with all the awesome Harlequin blurbs you have found:

Saturday 21 May to Sunday 26 June - prompts can be posted to the AO3 V:LTBC community, or to the Symbrock Dreamwidth community.
Wednesday 6 July - submissions are due.
Thursday 7 July - works in the collection are opened for viewing.
Thursday 14 July - creators are revealed and works can be crossposted anywhere else you like.

I think it would be fun to run another Venom-y fest somewhere in the middle of the year. By then it will have been a while since Christmas and Valentine’s, so I figure we might all have the energy to do something.

I hope you're having a good weekend. Just a quick reminder that the Venomtime's day community is open now for posting. To post you need to claim a prompt, but there are a couple of generic ones you can use for this purpose, in addition to the specific ones people have left. Just go into the Prompts area, Claim one, and you can post your work.

The official deadline for posting your work is midnight on the 13 Feb, UTC. There will be a grace period between that deadline and when I open up, so if you're running a little late you can still post after midnight on the 13th and be included.

I've been wrapped up in Festivids, and so forgot to make a final reminder before the 5th. Because of that, I'm allowing prompts to be posted for another 24 hours, and then I'll close up that part of the fest, and open the Collection up to posting.

You need to "sign-up" to add prompts and make claims, but you will not be matched with anyone or required to make a gift if you sign up. You can still make a claim after the prompt deadline has passed.

Create any type of fan work (meta, fic, vids, art, cosplay, playlist, etc) as long as it focuses on characters from the films or comics, and post it to this collection on the AO3 by midnight GMT on 13th February. Your post will be hidden until the 14th February and opened up on Valentine's Day.
