Symbrock Santa - 22 Dec to 1 Jan

Hi everyone,

I'd like to propose that we celebrate the lead up to the New Year with a casual Symbrock fanworks fest, to help us all settle into our new home here on DW.

Any type of fan work is welcome, as long as its focus is Symbrock - recommendations, art, fic, vids, meta, speculation, costuming, comments, or whatever floats your boat. Alternatively, you can take part in the prompts post (which is here).

The focus should be on Eddie Brock, Venom, and any combination of Eddie and Venom, but it's also okay to ask for them in combination with other characters from the comics or movie.

The fest will run from Saturday 23 December to Tuesday 1 January.

To take part, you pick a level of festing, and try to accomplish it, and then either post your entries to this community, or post elsewhere and link to it here.

If anyone would like to create an achievement grid, and/or icons for the different levels of festing, please do! It would totally count as part of the fest. :)

Level 1 - Host

You are a generous soul, and post at least one thing at some point during the fest (not counting a prompt on the prompt post unless you also fill one). This can include commenting on the work other people have posted during the fest, because comments are love too!

Level 2 - Symbiont

You have enough tentacles to make several fanworks during the fest, or fill several prompts, or comment on several fanworks others have posted.

Level 3 - Symbrocker

You plan to achieve successful symbiosis with the fest! You post at least one fanwork, prompt fill, or comment every single day. Outstanding!

Daily Fest Themes

I thought it would be good to get input on this. Please post your suggested themes in the comments, and I'll add them to the list. You don't have to follow the daily themes, these are just for inspiration. As long as it's Symbrock, you can post anything you like during the fest.

Saturday 22 December - Altered States (tentacleduck: In Germany we call a repetitive Number "Schnapszahl" Schnapps > drunk > altered states)

Sunday 23 December - Space/Orbiting (gold_pen_leaps: On December 23rd, 1968, astronauts in the Apollo 8 spacecraft became the first men to orbit the moon. Something about space or the concept of "orbiting" would be really cool. It's not especially wintery, but it's very them.)

Monday 24 December - Traditions (threadberry: Eddie trying to explain to V about mistletoe, or presents or Santa would be entertaining.)

Tuesday 25 December - Christmas

Wednesday 26 December - Handwritten notes/Gratitude (gold_pen_leaps: December 26th is National Thank You Note Day in the United States.)

Thursday 27 December -

Friday 28 December - Children/Offspring (tentacleduck: It's the "Holy Innocents Day.")

Saturday 29 December - Chocolate (threadberry: I believe chocolate is always a good fallback option! I mean - shopping for, finger painting with, snuggling up near the fire with hot chocolate; the options are endless. And usually super cute.)

Sunday 30 December - 

Monday 31 December - Farewell (tentacleduck: It's the last day of the year)

Tuesday 1 January - New Year

I'm not going to police time zones or any of that - just post according to the day it is where you live. And most of all have fun sharing the Symbrock love.

Symbrock Fest Prompt Post - now until the New Year

The rules!

You can leave up to three prompts before filling any. To be able to post further prompts, you need to fill at least one other person's prompt. Then you can post up to three more prompts.

Posting prompts starts now, so that people have time to think about them before the fest starts on the 22nd December, but you can post prompts at any time during the fest.

Filling prompts begins on Saturday 22 December, and goes through until Tuesday 1 January.

The focus should be on Eddie Brock, Venom, and any combination of Eddie and Venom, but it's also okay to ask for them in combination with other characters from the comics or movie.


Making Requests

If there is a particular kind of Symbrock fanwork you desperately want, request it in the comments. Post a new comment in a new thread (that is, not as a response to any other comment). Give a summary of the prompt in the header so it's easy to find, and the details in the comment itself. 

Here's the header format to use for requests:

I'd really love some art of Eddie grieving because he thinks Venom is dead. Ideally I'd like to use it as an icon, but as long as you're okay with it, I can always turn your larger art into one or more icons and share them if that's not something you do. 

Filling Requests

As a reply to the prompt, give a header that says "Filled" and then a summary of the fanwork you've made. Then either post the fill in the body of the comment, or link to the place you've posted your work. Comments do have a length limit, so it's fine to post on your own journal or AO3 or YouTube or whatever.

Here's the header format to use for prompt fills:
