As of 10am GMT, Sunday 21 June, and will stay open until everything is claimed.

Instructions

You can make a claim in two ways:

• Post a comment to this Claims post once claims are open. 

OR

• Email me any time after the Claims officially open at cupidsbower at gmail with your claim preferences. 

Include:

• Put the number and title of the claim you’d prefer in your comment or email along with your handle or name. 

You can list up to three of the Big Bangs. However, you don’t have to choose three, if there’s only one you want. 

The Rules for Claims

I will be granting claims as follows:

• First come first served. I will do my best to check posting/emailing dates and grant the claim to the first person who asks for it (once claims have officially opened).
• If someone has already claimed your first request, I will move down your list and compare your second and third requests to timestamps for any other requests, and give you the first one that is still unclaimed.
• Once you have one successful claim, I will hold off until all the requests have been processed before checking if you want a second claim.
• If you don’t get any of your three preferred claims, and are happy to get any claim, add “Okay to be given any claim” as a fourth point on your list. I will then assign you any available Big Bang.
• Once you have received an email or reply from me with confirmation you have the Claim, please sign up to the VBB AO3 Collection if you have not already done so.

#1 - CLAIMED

Title: It Takes a Luminescent View

Genre: Fiction

Characters: Eddie Brock/Venom, Anne Weying & Dan Lewis & Eddie Brock & Venom.

Rating: Mature

Size: Current word count- 4146. Should end up under 6000 words.

Summary: Eddie and Venom eat a dude and also some mushrooms by accident. They proceed to trip balls while Anne and Dan have to babysit them.

#2 - CLAIMED

Title: O' City Lights

Genre: fiction

Characters/Relationships: Eddie Brock/Venom Symbiote, original characters

Rating: Mature

Size: ~8,000 words

Summary: After getting a tip, Eddie and Venom investigate reports of homeless kids missing from the streets of San Francisco. Eddie worries there might be a serial killer lurking in the alleys of the Mission District. Venom's just trying to understand humanity. (This is a somber story with dark themes, and mild supernatural elements. Venom POV)

Title: Old and new friends

Summary: Frank  and Eddie are  old friends ( lovers )  and have not  seen each other in a long  time and eddie wants to  maybe start up new things with frank but he is nervous  to tell frank about venom and how  things could and would go  but   It is more shocking  to  eddie  how frank reacts   will they be able to move forward as a three way partnership  or will the budding relationship  blow up before it even starts  they  Both  all  want the same thing but don't know how to go about it ..

#4 - CLAIMED

Title: An Acquired Taste

Genre: Fiction

Rating: Teen and up

Size: 5,138 words, the fic is written but not beta read so while the final count might change, it shouldn’t change by a huge amount

 

Summary: At Anne’s encouragement, Eddie and Dan start hanging out and building a friendship. Venom is dubious at best about the whole thing. Eventually, Dan gets up the nerve to ask about Eddie and Venom’s symbiosis weirdness. Eddie and Dan discuss some sensory weirdness, and eventually Venom joins the conversation. As the discussion continues, Eddie, Venom, and Dan talk about what nutrients Venom needs and all decide to figure it out.

My fic is a fluffy, no-bummers-y exploration of what kinds of food Venom might like. I can’t think of any major warnings, though there is some mention of anxiety over resource availability.

#5 - CLAIMED

Title: A Period of Adjustment

Size: 6 page comic - several panels on each page.

Summary: This is a fantasy AU comic version of the

Eddie|Venom story. Eddie gets bitten by a werewolf before Venom comes

along so it's a bit crowded in there for a while! The comic's obviously

complete crack and bounces lightly over some events of the movie and

focuses more on Eddie, his inner wolf, and Venom sorting things out and

achieving an equilibrium.

#6 - CLAIMED

Title: Living with our sins

Genre: Fiction

Characters/Relationships: Eddie Brock/Venom Symbiote; Eddie Brock/Flash Thompson/Venom Symbiote; Peter Parker (Spider-man)

Rating: Mature

Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence

Size: 5,800 words

Summary: Agent Venom is the new protector of New York when Eddie Brock crosses his path as the host of an unknown symbiote. When NYPD arrests Eddie with Spider-man’s help, the Venom symbiote is going to need Flash's help to get Eddie back. Flash doesn’t understand why the Other feels such a level of devotion for a host that has mistreated, abandoned and turned them into a villain. But perhaps not everything is what it seems and the most pure love sometimes leads to committing the most atrocious acts. WARNINGS: Suicide thoughts; suicide attempt; depression; Dub-con (?)

We're just about at the first check in for the Venom Big Bang. This is for primary creators to give me an idea of whether they will be ready for claims on 1 June. You need to have a draft that is 80% complete by then in order to take part in the claiming process (here are the full rules).

I'll be emailing signed-up participants in addition to posting this poll, but I wanted something public so people who haven't signed up yet could also take part.

Here is the low-down on our upcoming Venom Big Bang. Thanks to everyone who took the poll. It was super useful! 

I have created the AO3 collection for our Big Bang, and written up the first draft of the rules. You can find it here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/venom_big_bang_2020/profile

Feedback is very much appreciated! This is my first time running a big bang, so I'd like the rules to be as clear as possible.

VBB Schedule

• March 1 - Sign ups for Primary Creators, Secondary Creators, and Beta Readers are open.

• May 1 - Primary Creator check-in (mandatory).

• June 1 - Rough drafts and claims information are due. They must be 80% complete, with remaining sections outlined, in order to be accepted. Final day for Primary Creators to drop out without penalty.

• June 8 - Claims summaries will be emailed to Secondary Creators to preview.

• June 13 - Claims Day 1 - Claims open to registered Secondary Creators at 10am Perth time. Team introduction emails will be sent out as people are assigned and teams are confirmed.

• June 14 - Claims Day 2 - Public claims open to anyone interested at 10am Perth time and continue until all summaries have been claimed. Successful claimants need to sign-up on the Ao3 once their claim is official.

• July 31 - Team check-in (mandatory). Teams must have communicated by this point and alerted the mod as to any problems. Failure to check-in may disqualify you from the challenge. Pinch-hitters will be assigned as needed.

• September 6 - Final check-in (mandatory). Secondary Creators, you must upload your rough drafts at this point. Primary Creators, your final draft is due today. You may continue to edit your work between now and your scheduled posting date, but what you submit must be a complete draft and meet the required minimum length in your chosen medium with no remaining outlines.  

• September 13 - Posting Schedule released.

• October 1 - VBB posting begins on Ao3!

• October 15 - Final day of posting. Open posting day for teams who missed their scheduled date & solo posts.

• October 18 - Masterlist is posted, plus treats and remixes inspired by the Big Bangs can now be added to the Ao3 collection.

At the moment, there are sign-up options for:

• Primary creators
• Secondary creators
• Volunteer beta readers (not considered creators, but super valuable!)

I considered adding Pinch-hitters, but I think we'll have a small enough number of participants that's probably not needed. Let me know if you're a potential pinch-hitter and would like to be able to sign up.
