Hi all,

As well as the Big Bang, I'll be running a gift exchange to celebrate Venom 2. This will have a lower word limit than the Big Bang. Sign-ups will be in July, with posting on 2 October.

I'm currently wrangling the tag set we'll use for this exchange, so if there's a character or pairing you really want, please add it by June 25. You can add up to 10 character tags, and 10 relationship tags.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the posting requirements for those planning to take part in the VBB. Feedback welcome. If you think any of the size requirements are unclear or inappropriate, let me know. Especially for all types of art, the poetry option, and the music, as I know little about them.

PRIMARY & SECONDARY CREATORS
Type of Fanwork	Size required	Notes
Fic	At least 5,000 words
Poetry	At least 100 lines, or 1,000 words	Can be made up or several poems with a shared theme or character.
Meta	At least 5,000 words If you are a primary creator, your submission must have enough discussion of a major theme, plot, character or trope that it can be remixed or riffed on in another medium, either fictional or non-fictional.
Vid	At least 2 minutes
Original Music	At least 2 minutes If you are a primary creator, your submission must have enough of a story or theme (eg. via a lyric) that it can be remixed or riffed on in another medium.	For musical compositions, an audio file of recorded music, plus the text of the lyric, if there is one, is the submission method (you can also include a pdf of the score/musical motifs/themes if you wish).
2D Art	At least 2 pieces of high-quality art If you are a primary creator, your submission must have enough of a story or theme that it can be remixed or riffed on in another medium.	2D art includes but is not limited to: hand-drawn art whether on paper/canvas or computer, hand-painted art whether on paper/canvas or computer, photoshopped pieces, photography, collages, as long as it is in two dimensions (or sort of two dimensions). For hand-created pieces, a high-quality scan or digital photograph is the submission method, ie. not on lined paper, a reasonable resolution, and at least 400×400 px.
3D Art	At least 2 pieces of medium complexity art If you are a primary creator, your submission must have enough of a story or theme that it can be remixed or riffed on in another medium.	3D art includes but is not limited to: sculpture, fibre arts, metalworking, woodworking, as long as it is in three dimensions. A high-quality scan or digital photograph is the submission method, ie. a reasonable resolution, and at least 400×400 px.
Comics	At least 2 pages (6 panels)
Photostory	At least 10 images/frames If you are a primary creator, your submission must have enough of a story or theme that it can be remixed or riffed on in another medium.	Break out your action figures, or bribe your Venom-lookalike friends! High-quality digital photographs are the submission method.
SECONDARY CREATORS ONLY

Venom 2 Bingo!

Welcome to Venom 2 bingo!

Join us to celebrate the upcoming release of Venom 2 by creating and sharing fanworks of any type based on the Venom movie-verse.

Edited to add: New dates have now been set due to Venom: Let There Be Carnage being rescheduled to 25 June 2021.

To play, you need to generate a bingo card, and then create a fanwork for each square until you achieve a Bingo. The fanwork can be of any type -- fic, recs, art, meta, cosplay, playlist, etc. It must feature a character from the movies Venom or Venom 2, but can include other characters from the larger Marvel-verse, including the comics. Add your work to the Venom Bingo collection on Ao3, and link it here so others can find it.

Please note that if your entry does NOT include Venom or Eddie Brock, you can only add a link to it as a comment on this Bingo Post in the symbrock community. If your work DOES include Venom and/or Eddie you can both link it here and also make your own post in the symbrock community to announce it if you wish to.

The generators below have word prompts which are randomly assorted into a 3x3 card, and some of the words are not safe for work, but aren't any higher than an M rating. You can regenerate the card until you get one that is SFW if you want to.

For this one, you'll need to screencap your card in order to re-post it, but it has Venom-specific prompts, mainly focused on the movie, but many are also relevant to the comics. NOTE - If you have problems getting this one to work, there are some additional instructions at the bottom of the post.

This one isn't Symbrock specific. Choose the "Fanfiction Cliche" option from the menu, and then 3x3 for the card size and generate your card. HTML code is created that you can paste to your journal or Tumblr or AO3 in order to display your card, and then modify it to link to the fanworks you make.

 

Claiming is via the honour system. If you think your fanwork fits the prompt, you can claim it, as long as it is a completed fanwork made for this challenge that celebrates Venom. The prompts are open to interpretation, so for instance, "space" could be Venom's backstory as an alien traveller, or Eddie's need for personal space, an adventure they take into cyberspace, or icons that make use of space aesthetically, and so on.

Calling for artists!

Hi all,

As you can see, I've been a busy beaver and have created the following events:

• Our Venom 2 Bingo! challenge (with prizes!)
• The Venom Big Bang

Both of these start on March 1, which is in just a couple of days.

I would dearly love some art which will help me (and hopefully other people) to advertise these events. In particular, I need a banner that has  the key info on it:

• The sign up date and minimum requirements for the Venom Big Bang, plus the AO3 url (https://archiveofourown.org/collections/venom_big_bang_2020)
• The kick-off date and prizes for Venom 2 Bingo, plus the Dreamwidth masterpost url (https://symbrock.dreamwidth.org/25689.html)

Ideally, it would be great if that banner could be split into two separate ones that could be used individually for each fest as well.
