Hi all,

As you can see, I've been a busy beaver and have created the following events:

Both of these start on March 1, which is in just a couple of days.

I would dearly love some art which will help me (and hopefully other people) to advertise these events. In particular, I need a banner that has  the key info on it:

  • The sign up date and minimum requirements for the Venom Big Bang, plus the AO3 url (https://archiveofourown.org/collections/venom_big_bang_2020)
  • The kick-off date and prizes for Venom 2 Bingo, plus the Dreamwidth masterpost url (https://symbrock.dreamwidth.org/25689.html)

Ideally, it would be great if that banner could be split into two separate ones that could be used individually for each fest as well.

Any takers? *makes puppydog eyes*

I can try and come up with something for a banner. It'll be kind of quick-and-dirty since there isn't a lot of time.

Ignore that it's ugly and too big; that's easy to tweak later. (Also thinking of doing blue or purple instead of red for the color scheme.)

Is this all the text that you want? Or do you want me to include the basic rules on the banner as well (min word count, etc)?

Welcome to my "process"...

So I first started out trying to do something kind of serious, but I was getting indecisive about fonts and the more text I squeezed in the tackier it got and readability started to be an option. (For readability, if we want something sleek but legible, I probably need to switch to a plain white background without so much slanted text.)

So then I kind of embraced the tacky and went full-tacky on purpose (but I've still been too lazy to change out the font since I haven't decided which direction to go with this):

main question:
[ ] blue, but less tacky and less slanted text (possibly with white background)
[ ] same, but try it in purple
[ ] go full tacky and switch the text to a more comic-book-style font

Is there anything important missing/wrong? I won't have time to mess with this again until late this evening or possibly tomorrow so I don't need an instant reply, but I won't do any more until I've got an idea of which direction I'm aiming. (I think my natural "style" leans toward Graphic Designer's Worst Nightmare, but I can reign it in if you were hoping for something serious/moody/classic.)

note to self:
1st = Racing Numbers font
March = Batman Beat the Hell Outta Me font
Venom = Monsters Attack font
small text = Nosferatu font
start/sign-ups = Comic Type font
Wow = I've already forgotten which font this was, but I think it was "Comic" something
